• William Sweetwater is left on his own, after his father is lost at sea.
• Raistlin Majere is enrolled in Mage School, and Kitiara leaves Solace in search of adventure.
• The illusionist Waylan witnesses the birth of his daughter Tika and then leaves her in the care of the local innkeeper Otik Sandath.
• The Ogre Campaigns rage between the ogres of Bloten and the desert warriors of Khur. Ariakas returns from the campaign and pledges to serve Takhisis.
