Ophion (? AC - ? AC) was a shape-shifting creature that served the sorceress Asvoria. It could pluck images from a person's mind and use that image to shape-shift. It had no gender and when not shifting appeared androgynous. The only thing Ophion could not shift was its ice-blue eyes, that stayed regardless of what shape it took.
History
Early Life
Ophion was created by Asvoria somewhere around 1780 PC in Cairngorn Keep. After Asvoria was destroyed later that year, Ophion disappeared.
Return of the Sorceress
Ophion had been tracking its master, Asvoria, as she lay dormant in the mind of a young girl named Nearra for some time. The creature watched Nearra and the Young Adventurers as they tried to free Nearra of her amnesia, a result of Asvoria's presence there. Ophion conferred with Asvoria psychically, waiting for its mistress to arise from the confines of Nearra's mind.
Maddoc, a black wizard, also had interest in Nearra and had her captured and taken back to Cairngorn Keep to steal magical secrets from Asvoria's head. Ophion saw a chance to save Asvoria. Ophion snuck into Cairngorn and during a battle retrieved an amulet called the Daystar and gave it to Asvoria. Asvoria used that amulet to block Maddoc's paralysis spell and she was free to wreak havoc on her enemies. Ophion and its master escaped on the back of a Bone-Griffin leaving the Young Adventurers and Maddoc in defeat.
