The Imperial Dungeons were a small prison deep below the Great Temple in Istar. Its existence was a closely guarded secret. The dungeons was less than a dozen cells and the Chamber of Interrogation. The only way in was a narrow stairway that was guarded by handpicked Knights and magical glyphs that would burn anyone trying to escape.
The imperial dungeon was not used for common prisoners but for prisoners that were a threat to the church and empire. The only prisoner to escape from the imperial dungeon was Cathan MarSevrin.
