Consensus is a Divination spell that a Mage may cast once they have either become the Highmage or is a Master of the Order. The spell normally has been cast in order to elect a new Highmage. When the mage casts the spell, he or she may choose to send it only to one Order, such as the White Robes, or to all three orders. The message is no longer than ten seconds long, and is carried to every magic user that has ever pass the Test except for those who have turned renegade, or if the mage isn't on the Material Plane. Mages that are unconscious do not get the message, but those who are behind magical barriers or mental protections do receive them. Mages asleep are instantly awakened for the message. Once all mages have voted, the mage who cast the spell receives one answer, either "yea" or "nay". The magic user must be able to say the spell correctly, and complete the appropriate hand gestures.
